LOCKDOWN INTERVIEW:CARINA, PRODUCER & STYLIST

Carina ,Producer & Stylist

Can you tell us your name and what you do and tell the readers how we know each other?

My name is Carina, I am a producer for audiovisual content & a stylist and we met at London Fashion Week in 2019.

What does an average day look like for you under lockdown?

Under lockdown it’s important to somehow still keep a regulated routine. So even if I don’t “have” to get up early since I can plan my day as I please, I still get up at 9am latest. After breakfast and some green tea I sit on my laptop checking and answering emails as well as messages on social media. Further on I’m usually doing chores around the house to get them out of the way so I can focus on work later on. Especially in these times it’s important to keep your immune system up, so I love to try out healthy recipes for dinner and take my time cooking and listening to music. Afterwards I will start working on my projects, since I’m the most creative at night time 🙂

How are you remaining creative/maintaining your creative output?

I overflood my brain with visuals by looking at pictures on IG, tumblr or other photography blogs. I also get inspired by archive material which I find on YouTube or classic movies and songs. As soon as an idea comes my way, I instantly write it down in a notebook. So as soon as I’m lacking creativity I will pick up an idea I noted and work out a concept.

What would be your advice to other creatives, struggling to maintain creativity and motivation in isolation?

First of all it’s important to keep a daily routine, but also to take time for yourself, your thoughts and most importantly: Practice selfcare. Don’t put yourself under too much pressure by feeling the need to be productive or creative. Also make use of the fact, that everything is slowed down at the moment. This is a perfect time to reflect. Take a walk, pay attention to the small things you overlooked due to stressful everyday life and you will find beauty in the simplest things. Creativity will find you if you don’t force it.

What are you missing most about the outside world?

Friends & Family, being able to go to restaurants/bars, art galleries and attending events!

What’s the first thing you hope to do when quarantine is over?

Catching up with my loved ones 🙂

What are you reading and/or listening to?

I’ve just finished reading “Why I’m No Longer Talking About Race To White People” by Reni Eddo-Lodge. When I don’t have time to read a whole book I love to read poems by Rupi Kaur in between. When it comes to music, I mostly listen to Soul or Funk in the mornings. As the day goes on my playlist depends on my mood.

Are there any aspects of the lockdown that you would like to continue in the future?

When back in full-on work mode I need to remind myself more to slow down if needed. Also I want to keep the routine of cooking for myself at least once a day.

Where can people see more of your work and can interact with you?

I’m working on my website at the moment, so people can view my portfolio. In the meantime find me on IG @shoesruinedmylife
