N PALMER premiered their debut collection with a psychedelic film as part of the BFC’s DiscoveryLAB. The collection was created during designer Nicholas Palmer’s time in lockdown and features locally sourced vintage 70’s shirts and scarves turned into psychedelic patchwork. For Autumn/winter 2021 collection, the purpose and history of fabrics are considered and themes including the importance of fabric waste and how much material waste is produced are explored. ABOUT N PALMER
N PALMER explores repurposing vintage fabrics through innovative textile techniques and contemporary design. Nicholas Palmer, a 2018 graduate of the Central Saint Martins’ MA Fashion Programme, launched his eponymous brand in the summer of 2020. In his designs, he pays exceptional attention to an understanding of construction and to the history of the vintage pieces he uses within his garments. Palmer’s vision for creating stylish, fashion-forward menswear, together with his appreciation of the history of fashion and of the opportunities afforded by new construction technologies, is what deeply inspires him to design. In 2008 Palmer moved to New York for a fashion-design internship with menswear label Duckie Brown before starting at the Parsons School of Design. Palmer graduated from Parsons in 2014 with a BFA in Fashion Design. The same year, he was honoured with a CFDA+ certification for Exemplary Graduating Talent in Menswear. Before launching his own label, Palmer gained experience working with designers including Ralph Lauren, John Varvatos and Coach
