For Studio ALCH SS20, Alexandra Hackett drew upon her appreciation of the design elements and imagery of plastic carrier bags and other single-use plastics, referencing the logos of her personal plastic bag archive that she has been collecting for years.

Having always found a beauty in the materiality of plastic, especially in product packaging, Alexandra’s aim was to draw attention to the treatment of them worldwide through this collection.

Garments presented explore the idea of reducing plastic consumption through innovative design methods employed to increase functionality. Key pieces feature pockets with packable carrier bags enclosed that can be removed and utilised to reduce plastic usage.
