The inspiration behind the Studio ALCH Autumn/Winter 2019 collection is based upon the idea of the sport of commuting, and the urban ‘tracks’ that we compete on in our day to day life. The range follows the notion of ‘competitive commuting’ and dressing for a work out that exists outside of actual sporting activities, at the intersection sport and lifestyle.For this collection, ALCH explored the concept of approaching dressing for your day’s activities with the same mindset one would have when packing their gym bag.Silhouettes feature removable bags and a vast array of pockets designs to reduce the waste created through last minute shopping bags, purchased on the commute to and from home.The collection also features jacquard pieces which are constructed in exact panels thus lowering the wastage in pattern cutting materials.The range is heavily inspired by the textures, motifs, and fabrications found on the daily grounds one encounters on their commute in and around London, with particular reference to the graphic detailing of manhole covers.
